Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls
  • Pitch center circle or cones for marking
Setup
  1. Area: Center circle of the pitch (approx 20-yard diameter circle), or an equivalent circle marked with cones if unavailable.
  2. Team Blue: 2 blue attacking players, one stationed inside each group's inner circle, each starting with a ball and trying to lose their marker.
  3. Team Red: 2 red defending players, one stationed inside each group's inner circle, tightly marking their paired blue attacker.
  4. Neutral: 2 black neutral players positioned on the outer circle (one per group), spaced evenly around the circle to receive and return first-time passes with the inner attacker.
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the center circle if pitch markings are unavailable, plus 1 soccer ball per attacker-defender pair in the inner circle.
Instructions
  1. Attacking players try to lose their marker within the circle.
  2. Attacker receives a pass from an outside player and returns it first-time.
  3. Rotate roles periodically, including outside players.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Maintain optimal angles and distances for support.
  • Use a good first touch and keep your head up.
  • Deliver accurate passes with appropriate timing and disguise.
  • Stay light on feet with dynamic movement to lose markers.
  • Show awareness of passing options and body shape.
  • Move confidently and quickly, supporting the ball efficiently.
  • Focus on technical execution for all passes.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the circle to increase pressure on technical skills.
2. Limit touches for attackers when receiving and returning passes.
3. Increase the speed of play by encouraging quicker passing sequences.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the circle for more room to maneuver.
2. Allow attackers to control before returning the pass.
3. Use a smaller number of players to reduce complexity.
