Equipment
- * Cones (or markers) for a 60x40 yard playing area and halfway line
- * 1 central goal
- * Footballs
Setup
- Area: 60x40 yard area marked with cones, including a halfway line.
- Goals: One central goal positioned on the halfway line, defended from both sides.
- Team Red: 5 red outfield players (3 attackers and 2 defenders) start in their own half.
- Team Blue: 5 blue outfield players (3 attackers and 2 defenders) start in their own half.
- Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned at the central goal on the halfway line, defending both sides of the goal.
- Equipment: Cones marking the 60x40 yard playing area and halfway line, with extra footballs placed around the perimeter for quick restarts.
Instructions
- Each team attacks from their designated side aiming to score in the central goal.
- Defenders winning possession must pass to their attackers on the opposing side.
- If the goalkeeper saves, they roll the ball to the defending team on that side.
- Play continues rapidly, maintaining pressure and opportunities for attacking teams.
Coaching Points
- Ensure clear communication among teammates.
- Use good angles and distances for support.
- Maintain a quality first touch.
- Keep your head up to observe options.
- Deliver precise passes with correct timing and disguise.
- Receive with the furthest foot to face forward.
- Adapt skills and techniques based on defender positioning.
- Stay open to provide two passing options.
- Create space and movement for receiving passes.
- Use diamond and triangle formations for effective positioning.
- Be mindful of defender locations while attacking.
- Select effective passes leading to a quick finish.
- Employ correct techniques for receiving advantages.
- Understand when and how to support ball holders.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Add an additional defender to each team.
3. Limit the number of touches for attackers.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to provide more space.
2. Reduce the number of defenders on each team.
3. Allow attackers unlimited touches.
