- Cones
- Balls (one per team)
- Bibs/Markers for team identification
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts spaced evenly inside the 20x20 area
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts spaced evenly inside the 20x20 area
- Team Black: 1 black outfield player starts spaced evenly inside the 20x20 area
- Equipment: cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area, one ball provided per team (3 balls total), unique colour bibs/markers issued to each of the three teams
Instructions
- Each team must keep possession by passing to same-color teammates.
- Players must maintain clear pathways for passing and receiving.
- Encourage use of one or two-touch passing.
- Teams should aim for a set number of consecutive passes to add competition.
Coaching Points
- Maintain constant communication.
- Use good angles and distances for support.
- Focus on a quality first touch.
- Keep your head up to scan the field.
- Move effectively off the ball.
- Ensure passes are accurate and timely.
- Quickly offer support to teammates.
- Keep the ball moving continuously.
- Prioritize ground-level passes.
- Demonstrate spatial awareness and decision making.
- Encourage quick decision-making for passing.
- Observe and adjust spacing if necessary.
- Promote swift ball release based on timing.
- Enhance understanding of passing pathways.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase difficulty.
2. Implement a one-touch pass rule.
3. Limit passing to the foot furthest from the defender.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area size to provide more space.
2. Allow unlimited touches for better control.
3. Remove competition and focus solely on technique.
