Equipment
  • Balls
  • 2 Goals
  • Cones or Markers
Setup
  1. Area: Half pitch marked with cones or markers
  2. Goals: One goal centred on each end line of the half pitch
  3. Team Red: 5 red outfield players spaced evenly across the half pitch
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at one end
  5. Team Blue: 5 blue outfield players spaced evenly across the half pitch
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the other end
  7. Equipment: Cones or markers outlining the half-pitch boundary, 2 goals on each end line, and a supply of balls stacked near each goal
Instructions
  1. Play a 5v5 game using standard rules over the marked half-pitch.
  2. Goalkeepers initiate play by distributing the ball quickly.
  3. Focus on fast transitions when the ball turns over to attacking.
  4. Goalkeepers should utilize kicking and throwing to start plays.
  5. Encourage quick, accurate passing to advance the play efficiently.
Coaching Points
  • Utilize proper technique for distribution.
  • Ensure quick communication and decision-making.
  • Focus on the speed of transition from receiving to distributing.
  • Use good footwork to maintain proper positioning.
  • Emphasize accurate ball distribution with correct techniques.
  • Reduce touches to avoid pressure from opponents.
  • Promote a positive attitude and organization.
  • Encourage not taking unnecessary risks during gameplay.
  • Observe and improve the quality of technique in possessions.
  • Guide the goalkeeper in playing out from the back effectively.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Use a smaller playing area to increase pressure.
2. Limit the number of touches allowed on the ball.
3. Increase the pace of play with timed possession limits.
Make it easier:
1. Expand the playing area for more space.
2. Allow unlimited touches to build confidence.
3. Slow down the pace by extending possession time.
