Equipment
  • Cones
  • Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 25-yard diameter circle marked with cones
  2. Group: 2 black-outfield...
  3. Group: 2 players spaced evenly around the outside of the circle
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the 25-yard diameter circle; 1 ball placed in the center (one fewer ball than the number of players)
Instructions
  1. On the coach's command, players run around the circle's perimeter.
  2. On a second command, players sprint to the center to grab a ball.
  3. The player without a ball performs skill drills away from the group.
  4. Remove one ball and repeat steps until one player remains.
Coaching Points
  • Use arms effectively for balance and speed.
  • Execute explosive movements with quick arm swings.
  • Maintain proper running form with eyes up.
  • Stay light on your feet with quick, short steps.
  • Execute all movements at maximum effort.
  • Ensure rapid change of direction and acceleration.
  • Focus on high intensity and good technique.
  • Develop anaerobic endurance to sustain speed.
  • Keep relaxed yet focused during drills.
  • Improve agility, allowing quick changes in direction.

Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the circle's diameter to increase intensity.
2. Use a whistle for commands instead of vocal instructions.
3. Add more turns or obstacles around the circle.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the number of balls relative to players.
2. Expand the circle's diameter to reduce intensity.
3. Allow players more time between instructions.
