Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the playing area
  • Small goals (4)
  • One ball
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One small goal centred on each of the four sides of the area, no goalkeepers
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starting on one side of the area
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starting on the opposite side of the area
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and sides of the 30x30 yard area, 4 small goals positioned one per side, 1 ball
Instructions
  1. Players aim to score using a header or volley.
  2. Passes alternate between headers and throws or volleys and throws.
  3. Players may not run with the ball in hand or tackle.
  4. Interceptions are allowed.
  5. If the sequence of pass headers or volleys is broken, the opposing team receives a free throw.
  6. Encourage maintaining sequence throw, head/catch, throw, head/catch throughout the game.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain effective communication.
  • Create space to receive the ball.
  • Keep your head up for awareness.
  • Use movement to unsettle opponents.
  • Execute accurate and well-timed passes.
  • Stay light and responsive on your feet.
  • Quickly provide support to teammates.
  • Keep the body shape open for better passing.
  • Prioritize forward passes when possible.
  • Make intelligent runs to open up space.
  • Make effective pass selections.
  • Be aware of angles and distances for passing.
  • Maintain awareness of passing options.
  • Encourage team coordination and fluid movement.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Limit the number of touches before passing.
3. Introduce a time limit for each possession.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow one or two-step dribbles before passing.
3. Remove the restriction on alternate headers/volleys.
