Sole and Instep Ball Control

Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking practice area
  • One ball per player
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player starts inside the area with one foot on the ball
  3. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area, one ball per player
Instructions
  1. Players push the ball forward with their instep.
  2. Pull the ball back with the sole of the foot.
  3. Quickly switch feet, repeating the movements.
  4. Continue the sequence: two touches with the right foot, then two with the left.
  5. Increase speed as skill improves.
  6. Add other ball manipulation moves at command.

  • Maintain close ball control
  • Keep head up

  • Execute movements swiftly
  • Bend knees slightly
  • Stay light on feet
  • Maintain a consistent rhythm
  • Increase fluency and speed over time
  • Briefly glance down only when necessary
  • Improve touch through enhanced ball feel
  • Develop balance and coordination
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Perform movements at a higher speed.
2. Introduce additional ball manipulation techniques.
3. Combine moves upon command.
Make it easier:
1. Slow down the pace of movements.
2. Allow players to focus on stationary ball control.
3. Perform movements without switching feet initially.
