Equipment
- Balls
- Cones to mark 15x15 area and 2x2 center square
Setup
- Area: 15x15 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 4 black outfield players start spaced evenly around the edges of the 15x15 area, each with a ball
- Neutral: 1 black supporting player starts inside the 15x15 area, outside the central 2x2 square
- Equipment: cones marking the 15x15 area, cones marking a 2x2 yard square in the center, balls for each of the 4 outside players
Instructions
- Outside players initiate the drill by passing the ball to any player within the area.
- The receiving players must move through the central square before passing it back out.
- Encourage the use of inside foot for passes and switch roles after a set time.
Coaching Points
- Ensure continuous communication among players.
- Maintain effective support angles and distances.
- Emphasize quality and accuracy in passing.
- Encourage players to lift their heads for better vision.
- Focus on body movement when showing for the ball.
- Improve decision-making on pass timing and technique.
- Practice receiving technique to control the ball advantageously.
- Stress the importance of keeping the ball moving.
- Enhance teamwork and spatial understanding.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the speed of play to challenge decision-making.
2. Reduce the size of the central square to test control and precision.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the central square for easier ball control.
2. Allow more time for each player to make a decision before passing.
