Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Balls
  • Extra balls for maintaining flow
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 2 players total, 1 starting inside the area with a ball each, 1 positioned around the perimeter of the square
  3. Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area, additional cones scattered randomly inside the area for weaving, extra balls placed around the edges of the square for continuity
Instructions
  1. Players in the center dribble their balls quickly to the middle, weaving through cones.
  2. Once through the cones, they dribble back to an outside player, who takes over the ball and repeats the process.
  3. On the second cycle, players must execute a fake move at the center before returning the ball.
  4. The drill repeats with players exchanging roles continuously.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control with quick touches.
  • Keep your head up to enhance awareness.
  • Use deception to outmaneuver imaginary opponents.
  • Move with a positive attitude and intent.
  • Accelerate out of turns to exploit open space.
  • Demonstrate a variety of dribbling techniques appropriate for game situations.
  • Mimic realistic game scenarios to develop fluency.
  • Practice repetitions using both feet for symmetry in skill.
  • Build confidence through successful execution of moves.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Introduce a passive defender in the middle to increase pressure.
2. Reduce the size of the area to limit space.
3. Add a scoring element by placing small goals on the outside.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the area for more dribbling space.
2. Allow players to dribble without performing a fake move initially.
3. Use fewer cones inside the zone to create a simpler path.
