Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones (markers for the 30x40 yard area)
Setup
  1. Area: 30x40 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 5 players total, 4 of them each holding a ball spaced evenly around the perimeter of the area and 1 player without a ball positioned around the area between them
  3. Equipment: cones marking the corners of the 30x40 yard area, 4 balls held by the designated passing players
Instructions
  1. Players with a ball dribble to the center, pass to an outside player.
  2. The passer swaps positions with the receiver.
  3. Continue the pattern, ensuring constant movement and communication.
  4. Gradually increase intensity and incorporate lateral movements.
  5. Focus on good technique, communication, and fluid transitions.
Coaching Points
  • Start at a low intensity, gradually increasing as the drill progresses
  • Emphasize clear communication among players
  • Focus on solid passing and receiving technique
  • Observe player's first touch and overall body language
  • Ensure drills are fun, realistic, and relevant to the session
  • Increase heart rate and muscle temperature progressively
  • Ensure hydration breaks are taken
  • Encourage body and mind readiness for peak performance
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the number of players with a ball to three.
2. Increase the passing distance by expanding the area.
3. Introduce a time limit for each passing sequence.
Make it easier:
1. Add more players with a ball to encourage more frequent passing.
2. Decrease the size of the area to reduce running distance.
3. Allow stationary passes before swapping positions.
