Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for area marking
  • Soccer ball
Setup
  1. Area: 15x15 yard area marked with cones
  2. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start positioned in a triangle at the corners of the area
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts in the middle of the triangle, inside the area
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 15x15 yard area, 1 soccer ball
Instructions
  1. Attackers must keep possession by passing and moving within the area.
  2. Focus on quick, short passes to evade the defender.
  3. Change the defending player frequently to allow all players to practice defending.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant communication.
  • Emphasize a good first touch using the inside of the foot.
  • Maintain ball movement into open spaces.
  • Focus on pass quality: accuracy, timing, and disguise.
  • Receive the ball on your back foot, away from the defender.
  • Choose the most effective pass for each situation.
  • Show good movement to support the ball handler.
  • Be aware of passing options and adjust positioning.
  • Maintain optimal support angles and distances.
  • Execute technically sound skills consistently.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area size to increase pressure.
2. Allow the defender to intercept passes by using hands for added challenge.
3. Set a time limit for attackers to maintain possession.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size to reduce defensive pressure.
2. Add a neutral player to support the attackers.
3. Allow attackers to use two-touch passing to simplify control.
