Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones/Markers for 20x20 yard grid
  • Mini goal
  • Multiple soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard grid marked with cones/markers
  2. Goals: One mini goal centred in the middle of the grid
  3. Group: 1 player starts on the perimeter of the grid
  4. Equipment: Cones/markers forming the 20x20 yard grid, 1 mini goal at the center, multiple soccer balls randomly distributed within the grid
Instructions
  1. On the coach's signal, players enter the grid to collect balls.
  2. Players dribble balls towards the mini goal.
  3. Players score by getting balls into the goal.
  4. Encourage players to collaborate and collect all balls as quickly as possible.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage players consistently.
  • Promote spatial awareness within the grid.
  • Focus on close ball control.
  • Ensure all players are engaged and active.
  • Allow the game to naturally guide learning.
  • Teach the use of various foot parts.
  • Develop ball movement at varied speeds.
  • Reinforce understanding of space and positioning.
  • Foster enjoyment throughout the session.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the grid size to require quicker decisions.
2. Limit the time allowed to collect all balls.
3. Introduce a defender to add pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the grid size to provide more space.
2. Allow players to use hands instead of feet for collection.
3. Remove the goal and just focus on collecting balls in one spot.
