Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones or Markers
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones or markers
  2. Group: 1 black player (fish) starts on one end line of the area, one ball each
  3. Coach: 1 grey coach positioned on the opposite end line, facing away from the group
  4. Equipment: Balls, one per player; cones or markers marking the corners of the 20x20 area
Instructions
  1. Players dribble forward aiming to reach the opposite line.
  2. Coach turns quickly pretending to cast a fishing line.
  3. Players must stop and lie down behind their ball.
  4. Any player not down in time returns to the start.
  5. The first player to reach the coach wins.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant player engagement.
  • Develop space awareness.
  • Maintain close ball control.
  • Prioritize enjoyment of the session.
  • Utilize various parts of the foot for dribbling.
  • Adjust dribbling speed as needed.
  • Let players learn organically through play.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Add obstacles to dribble around.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the size of the playing area.
2. Allow players to start closer to the coach.
