Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones to mark the 10x10 area
  • A football
Setup
  1. Area: 10x10 yard area marked with cones
  2. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start spaced evenly around the perimeter of the area, outside the lines
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts inside the area as the defender
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 10x10 area, 1 football starting with the blue attacking players
Instructions
  1. Attacking players maintain possession while remaining outside the square.
  2. Passing must occur through the area between teammates.
  3. If the defender intercepts the ball, they return it to the attackers.
  4. Rotate roles after a set time.
  5. For competitiveness, count successful interceptions by the defender within one minute to increase intensity.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant communication among players.
  • Maintain good support angles and distances.
  • Emphasize quality first touches.
  • Keep heads up to make informed passes.
  • Focus on passing accuracy and timing.
  • Select passes with appropriate technique and disguise.
  • Demonstrate effective movement to show for the ball.
  • Ensure supporting players offer two passing options.
  • Maintain awareness of available passing options.
  • Encourage players to keep the ball moving.
  • Rotate players regularly to engage all.
  • Control pass strength for session flow.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the area size to increase pressure.
2. Add an additional defender inside the area.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size to provide more space.
2. Allow a neutral player to assist the attacking team.
