Equipment
- Balls for each player except one pair
- 8 Cones for the 20x20 yard area
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 3 red players start spaced evenly across the area, one player dribbling freely with their own ball, and a pair sharing one ball passing it between each other
- Equipment: 8 cones marking the corners and edges of the 20x20 yard area
Instructions
- Players dribble freely within the square.
- The pair must maintain possession by passing the ball to each other without dribbling.
- All players need to avoid colliding and should keep heads up.
- Change roles frequently so everyone experiences both scenarios.
Coaching Points
- Use disguise in movement and passing.
- Maintain a good first touch.
- Keep your head up to increase awareness.
- Move the ball into open spaces, away from defenders.
- Show a positive attitude and courage to try new techniques.
- Use technique that suits the situation.
- Recognize suitable passing weight based on space and time.
- Protect the ball while looking for passes.
- Execute passes through the crowd, not over.
- Develop dribbling capability with both feet.
- Ensure technical execution in tight spaces.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the number of passive defenders.
3. Set a time limit for each pass between the pair.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the play area.
2. Allow players to walk instead of running while dribbling.
3. Permit the pair to dribble for a few steps between passes.
