Equipment
- Goal
- Several balls
- Cones for marking the area
Setup
- Area: 18-yard box marked with cones
- Goals: One large goal on the goal line at the centre of the marked area
- Group: 3 blue outfield players start spaced evenly along the edge of the 18-yard box
- Group GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line
- Coach: 1 grey server positioned at the edge of the 18-yard box with a supply of balls
- Equipment: Cones marking the boundary of the 18-yard box area, several balls with the server
Instructions
- The server passes the ball to one of the three players.
- The receiving player has two touches to turn and shoot at goal.
- The goalkeeper attempts to stop the incoming shot.
- Repeat with all players, ensuring the goalkeeper faces consistent shot attempts.
- Alternate drills with brief rest periods.
Coaching Points
- Maintain a forward body weight and balanced stance.
- Use correct technique in various scenarios.
- Communicate clearly with defenders.
- Stand large and decide actions early in 1v1s.
- Expect shots always and react quickly.
- Assess opponent's angle, distance, and ball flight.
- Glide into the ready position, staying light.
- Emphasize correct 1v1 technique and positive attitude.
- Ensure good form and evaluate performance under intensity.
- Focus on timing, angle coverage, and confidence in saves.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce goalkeeper's reaction time by shortening intervals between shots.
2. Introduce varied shot types, including headers and volleys.
3. Add attackers to create pressure during shooting.
Make it easier:
1. Increase time between shots for longer preparation.
2. Allow players more touches before shooting.
3. Position players closer to the edge of the box for simpler shots.
