Equipment
- Cones to demarcate the 30x20 yard area
- 2 goals, one at each end of the field
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 30x20 yard area divided into three equal zones (two 10x20 end zones and one 10x20 middle zone), marked with cones.
- Goals: One goal centred on each end line of the area.
- Team Red: 6 red outfield players start as attackers, 2 positioned in each end zone and 2 positioned in the middle zone.
- Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the red team's end.
- Team Blue: 5 blue outfield players start as defenders, 1 positioned in each end zone and 3 positioned in the middle zone.
- Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line at the blue team's end.
- Coach: 1 grey coach positioned at the halfway line of the middle zone to play the first ball in to the red team.
- Equipment: Cones marking the outer 30x20 yard boundary and the two lines dividing the field into three equal zones, plus 2 goals (one on each end line) and soccer balls.
Instructions
- Begin with the coach playing the ball to the red team.
- Red team must move the ball from their goal, through the central zone, and attempt to score.
- Players use quick turns and passes to navigate defenders.
- Rotate players through different zones after each complete cycle.
- Encourage communication to coordinate successful transitions.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize quick, sharp turns to evade defenders.
- Maintain effective body positioning to protect the ball.
- Communicate with teammates for coordinated play.
- Adhere to assigned zones for drill integrity.
- Seek rapid ball release after turning.
- Employ body shields to create space.
- Keep head up to gauge defenders and teammates.
- Facilitate smooth ball transitions between zones.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the zones to increase pressure.
2. Add an extra defender in one of the end zones.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the end zones to provide more space.
2. Reduce the number of defenders in the middle zone.
