Instructions
- The server plays a ball into the penalty area as a simulated cross.
- The goalkeeper jumps to collect the ball at its highest point and communicates clearly.
- Upon landing, the goalkeeper quickly rolls the ball through the gate to a receiving player.
- The player dribbles and then shoots at the opposite goal, testing the second goalkeeper.
- Rotate server and outfield players after each attempt.
- Switch goalkeepers' roles after a set period.
Coaching Points
- Use correct technique when collecting high balls.
- Jump off one foot, catching at the highest point.
- Maintain clear, loud communication.
- Approach the ball at a slight angle.
- Assess the ball's flight and pace accurately.
- Move swiftly into the line of the ball.
- Execute a quick and positive takeoff and collection.
- Utilize light footwork to move swiftly.
- Distribute the ball rapidly for a fast attack.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the number of attackers.
2. Vary the delivery angles and height of crosses.
3. Reduce the distance of the gate to shorten distribution time.
Make it easier:
1. Use ground balls instead of aerial crosses.
2. Expand the gate for easier rolling distribution.
3. Allow goalkeepers to practice without opposition pressure initially.
