Equipment
- Balls (one per Blue Team player)
- Small goals (four)
- Cones to mark playing area
Setup
- Area: 55x30 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One small goal in each of the four corners of the area
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts on one side of the area, facing Blue, without a ball
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts on the opposite side of the area, facing Red, with a ball
- Equipment: Cones marking the 55x30 yard area, 4 small goals positioned one in each corner, 1 ball per Blue Team player
Instructions
- Blue Team members pass their ball to a Red Team opponent and follow their pass to defend.
- Red Team players receive the ball, execute a fake, and attempt to dribble through the corner goals.
- If Blue Team wins possession, they must attempt to dribble through their target goals.
- After each turn, players switch roles between attacking and defending.
Coaching Points
- Use laces for effective ball control.
- Keep communication constant with teammates.
- Exploit spaces quickly with minimal touches.
- Maintain stride and use few touches.
- Keep a good first touch to set up play.
- Observe defender positions and make early decisions.
- Be confident and positive in attacking spaces.
- Differentiate between running and dribbling based on opponent proximity.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the number of defenders to create 2v1 situations.
2. Reduce the playing area to increase defensive pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the target goals for easier scoring.
2. Allow attackers to start without immediate pressure for improved confidence.
