Equipment
- Cones to mark the 20x20 playing area
- Cones to set up the 5-yard cage
- One ball for each Monkey
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player (Monkey) starts inside the 20x20 area with a ball
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player (Zookeeper) starts outside the 20x20 area, without a ball
- Equipment: cones marking the 20x20 yard playing area, cones marking a 5-yard square cage positioned outside the playing area, one ball for each Monkey
Instructions
- Monkeys dribble the ball within the area, maintaining close control.
- Zookeepers enter the area, aiming to intercept and dribble a ball into the cage.
- Captured Monkeys can free themselves by performing two juggles or an appropriate skill within the cage.
- Monkeys return to the game and continue dribbling if they successfully perform the skill.
Coaching Points
- Encourage player involvement and enjoyment.
- Emphasize spatial awareness and ball control within the area.
- Utilize different parts of the foot for dribbling.
- Adjust speed while maintaining control.
- Allow gameplay to guide learning, reducing direct coaching where possible.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the number of Zookeepers.
2. Decrease the size of the playing area, increasing pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the number of Zookeepers.
2. Expand the playing area to allow more space for Monkeys to maneuver.
