Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Small goals
  • Cones for marking the area
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard grid marked with cones
  2. Goals: 4 small goals, one placed 5 yards behind the center of each side of the grid
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players start inside the grid, plus 2 more red outfield players start outside the grid on opposite sides
  4. Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players start inside the grid, plus 2 more blue outfield players start outside the grid on opposite sides
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and sides of the 20x20 yard grid, 4 small goals positioned 5 yards behind the center of each side.
Instructions
  1. The attacking team passes within the grid and can use outside players for support.
  2. Attackers aim to score in any of the four goals.
  3. Outside players defend by running around, not through the grid.
  4. When defenders win the ball, they attack immediately.
  5. The team that scores restarts with possession.
  6. Reset positions if the ball exits the playing area.
Coaching Points
  • Ensure effective communication among players.
  • Use a good first touch to maintain control.
  • Keep heads up for better awareness.
  • Maintain ball movement into space.
  • Focus on accurate passing, timing, and disguise.
  • Create passing angles and adjust distances.
  • Perimeter players should transition roles quickly.
  • Stay composed under pressure.
  • Promote patient build-up and possession play.
  • Demonstrate individual skills in 1v1 situations.
  • Work on switching play effectively.
  • Combine well as a team to outmaneuver defenders.
  • Positioning that enables receiving the ball.
  • Communicate effectively across the team.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Introduce a time limit for scoring.
2. Reduce the grid size to increase pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the grid size for more space.
2. Add an extra player for the attacking team.
