Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the playing area
  • Two appropriate-sized goals
  • Supply of balls
Setup
  1. Area: 25x15 yard area marked with cones, divided into two 12.5x15 yard halves
  2. Goals: One appropriate-sized goal centred on each end line
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield defenders, one positioned in the 2v1 half and one positioned in the 1v1 half, each confined to their own half
  4. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield attackers, two starting in the 2v1 half and one starting in the 1v1 half
  5. Coach: 1 grey coach positioned on the halfway line between the two halves with the supply of balls
  6. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and halfway line of the 25x15 area, supply of balls with the coach
Instructions
  1. The coach starts by passing the ball to any attacker.
  2. The attackers can choose to attack either goal.
  3. Defenders must stay in their assigned half.
  4. If the ball enters the 1v1 half, a second attacker joins to create a 2v1.
  5. Defenders winning possession try to score on the goal they defend.
  6. Restart with the original setup if a goal is scored or the ball goes out.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage communication and a positive attitude to score.
  • Use a good first touch and keep your head up.
  • Move the ball into space and ensure quality passes.
  • Be composed in tight spaces and build possession patiently.
  • Utilize individual dribbling skills or combine to outplay defenders.
  • Focus on timing passes and providing support at optimal angles and distances.
  • Aim for quick finishes while maintaining awareness of passing options.
  • Reinforce receiving techniques and decision-making for passing.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the playing area size to challenge spatial awareness.
2. Add a floater player as an additional defender.
3. Limit the number of touches for attackers.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the playing area to reduce physical demands.
2. Add an extra attacker to increase numerical advantage.
3. Allow defenders to use only one foot when clearing the ball.
