Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Multiple soccer balls (one set of three per team)
  • Cones for marking the area
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Team Red: 2 red outfield players lined up single file at their team's starting point
  3. Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players lined up single file at their team's starting point
  4. Equipment: cones marking the 20x20 yard area, 3 soccer balls per team placed in a line at varying distances (near, middle, far) directly in front of each team's starting point
Instructions
  1. The first player sprints to the farthest ball, dribbles it back to the start, and leaves it there.
  2. The same player repeats this for the second and closest balls.
  3. After returning all balls, the player moves to the back of the line.
  4. The next player takes one ball at a time, placing each at the initial positions and returns to the line.
  5. Continue until each player completes both collecting and placing sequences.
  6. The first team to finish wins this relay challenge.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage players consistently
  • Maintain close ball control using various parts of the foot
  • Foster spatial awareness and positioning
  • Ensure participation from all players
  • Let the game naturally teach as they progress and move
  • Balance speed and control while dribbling
  • Focus on enjoyment to enhance learning potential
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the distance between balls and starting line.
2. Reduce the playing area to encourage tighter control.
Make it easier:
1. Use fewer balls to simplify the process.
2. Increase the size of the playing area to allow more space and less congestion.
