Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Orange cone
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with a cone at one corner
  2. Group: 4 players positioned as a square, Player 1 standing at one corner without a ball, Players 2, 3, and 4 each holding a ball at the other three corners
  3. Equipment: 1 orange cone marking one corner of the 20x20 area, soccer balls held by Players 2, 3, and 4
Instructions
  1. Player 1 receives the ball from Player 2 and dribbles towards the cone.
  2. Upon reaching the cone, Player 1 executes a turn and dribbles to join the line behind Player 4.
  3. As Player 1 turns, Player 3 passes to Player 2, who then repeats the dribble and turn.
  4. Continue the sequence, focusing on technique and speed.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage precise ball control and quick movement.
  • Focus on producing an effective end product after the turn.
  • Ensure activities are football-specific and intense enough to challenge the aerobic system.
  • Progress the drill by increasing intensity or duration as players adapt.
  • Monitor and adjust for adequate recovery to prevent overtraining.
  • Maintain flexibility in planning to allow for rest if needed.
  • Strive for consistent performance quality and improved muscle efficiency.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the size of the playing area to 25x25.
2. Introduce an extra turn or skill move before passing.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the playing area to 15x15.
2. Allow Player 1 more time to complete the turn.
