Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Mini goals
  • Balls to represent 'animals'
  • Cones to mark the area
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard grid marked with cones
  2. Goals: One mini goal at each end of the grid
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts in one corner of the grid
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts in the diagonally opposite corner of the grid
  5. Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 20x20 grid, a variety of balls placed in the center of the grid to represent 'animals', 2 mini goals positioned at opposite ends of the grid
Instructions
  1. On the coach’s signal, one player from each team sprints to the center to retrieve a ball.
  2. Players dribble the ball back, aiming to score in their mini goal using close ball control.
  3. Continue until all balls are retrieved. The team with the most goals wins.
  4. Optional: Encourage using opposite feet or performing tricks before scoring.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage active participation and enjoyment.
  • Promote spatial awareness and quick decision-making.
  • Focus on close control and using different foot parts.
  • Facilitate the session to let the game teach players.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Require players to dribble with their non-dominant foot.
2. Introduce a skill move before attempting to score.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow players to pick up and carry the ball back to their goal.
