Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 2 Goals
  • Cones
  • Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard area with a goal at each end
  2. Goals: One goal centred on each end line
  3. Team Red: 4 red outfield players start in two pairs, positioned at one goal and diagonally opposite corner, one pair ready to attack and one to defend
  4. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start in two pairs, positioned at the opposite goal and diagonally opposite corner, one pair ready to attack and one to defend
  5. Equipment: 2 goals on opposite end lines, 2 cones placed within the playing area slightly offset from the centre, 1 ball per pair (4 balls total) held by each pair
Instructions
  1. Begin with one pair attacking while the other defends.
  2. Attackers aim to score, while defenders protect their goal.
  3. If attackers score, they become defenders for the next round.
  4. If the ball goes out of play, the current attackers must run around a cone before defending.
  5. Next pair of attackers immediately start their attack as previous attackers convert to defenders.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage positive play and quick decision-making.
  • Foster effective communication for coordination.
  • Promote continuous ball movement to unsettle defenders.
  • Emphasize quality shooting technique with focus on hitting the target.
  • Adapt the tempo during attacks to exploit openings.
  • Enhance cooperation and understanding of space and timing of runs.
  • Supply appropriate passes, whether to feet or into space.
  • Finish under pressure to improve scoring efficiency.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Add a time limit for scoring when attacking.
3. Introduce a neutral player to create numerical superiority for defenders.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area for more space.
2. Allow attackers to start closer to the goal to increase chances of scoring.
3. Remove cones to eliminate additional running for transition.
