Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard square playing area, adjusted based on number of players
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts on one side of the area with a ball
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts on the opposite side of the area with a ball
  4. Equipment: An odd number of cones (minimum 5) set up in a central line dividing the two sides, each cone topped with a ball
Instructions
  1. Players strike their ball attempting to knock the balls off the cones.
  2. Use inside of the foot to ensure better control and accuracy.
  3. Alternate players from each side to attempt their shot.
  4. Retrieve balls quickly and reset to continue rounds.
  5. The team knocking the most balls off wins the round.
  6. Repeat the drill, varying the distance or foot used for striking.
Coaching Points
  • Stay light on feet for quick adjustments.
  • Keep your head up to observe targets.
  • Use the inside of the foot for precision.
  • Aim standing foot at the target.
  • Ensure the approach is controlled and balanced.
  • Focus on the position of the striking foot and contact point.
  • Maintain composure when striking.
  • Correct any technical errors seen during execution.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Use the weaker foot to strike.
2. Increase the distance between players and cones.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the distance between players and cones.
2. Use larger targets to hit.
