Equipment
- Cones to mark the area
- Four small goals
- Several soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: Two small goals on each end line, one at each corner, four goals total
- Team Red: 2 red outfield players start at one end of the area
- Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players start at the opposite end of the area
- Equipment: Cones marking the 20x20 yard area, four small goals positioned two at each end, several soccer balls for play
Instructions
- The player with the ball passes to the opposite team.
- Attackers try to dribble and score in either of the defenders' goals.
- Defenders aim to regain possession and score in the opposite goals.
- The round ends when a goal is scored or the ball goes out of play.
- Switch roles and restart the drill.
Coaching Points
- Create supportive angles and maintain close ball control.
- Use effective communication and disguise movements.
- Anticipate the first touch and keep your head up.
- Master different dribbling techniques to create space and scoring opportunities.
- Decide when to dribble or pass based on the situation.
- Engage in 1v1 and 2v1 situations to exploit space.
- Build confidence in maintaining possession and executing end products.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Introduce a time limit for scoring to increase urgency.
3. Allow only one goal to be open for scoring to challenge decision-making.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to allow more time on the ball.
2. Add an extra player per team to create a 3v3 situation.
3. Remove one of the defensive goals to simplify scoring opportunities.
