Equipment
- Cones for marking the area
- Three mini goals
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One mini goal centred on each of three sides of the area
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts at the centre of the area attacking any of the two goals that are not on their nearest side
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts opposite Red at the centre of the area, defending against Red's attack
- Neutral: 1 black neutral player starts resting just outside the area near the fourth (goal-less) side, ready to attack next once possession changes
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 area, three mini goals positioned one on each of three sides, soccer balls for play
Instructions
- Red player attacks any of the three goals (except the nearest one).
- White player defends against Red.
- Once a goal is scored, or possession changes, the Blue player immediately attacks.
- The Red player then switches to defend against Blue.
- Continue rotation: White attacks next, with Blue defending.
- Ensure players rotate roles quickly maintaining the flow of play.
Coaching Points
- Use disguise and a positive attitude in attacking.
- Maintain a good first touch and keep your head up.
- Accelerate quickly when the opportunity arises.
- Focus on close ball control and 1v1 skills.
- Engage the defender to create space.
- Build confidence in dribbling and turning swiftly.
- Use both feet effectively for dribbling.
- Employ quick, small touches for better control.
- Exploit 1v1 situations by creating space.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area size to increase difficulty.
2. Limit the time allowed for each attack.
3. Require attackers to use a series of specific dribbling moves.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow attackers to use any of the three goals without restriction.
3. Remove the nearest goal restriction for beginners.
