Equipment
- 2 poles
- Several balls
Setup
- Area: Six-yard box
- Goals: One large goal, with the six-yard box marked in front of it
- Group GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper starts centred between two poles inside the six-yard box, facing forward
- Coach: 2 grey servers, each holding balls, positioned outside the box on either side, one aligned with each pole
- Equipment: 2 poles placed inside the six-yard box, approximately 2 meters apart, several balls held by the servers
Instructions
- The goalkeeper moves around a pole to the box center.
- A server lofts a ball for the goalkeeper to catch at the highest point.
- The goalkeeper returns the ball to the server.
- Repeat with the goalkeeper moving around the other pole to receive a lofted ball from the second server.
Coaching Points
- Use correct footwork technique.
- Command the six-yard box with confidence.
- Catch high balls at their peak.
- Communicate effectively with teammates.
- Prepare hands before receiving the ball.
- Execute explosive movements around the poles.
- Maintain straight arms during ball preparation.
- Analyze the angle and distance of the opponent.
- Assess and adjust to the flight and speed of the ball.
- Time the collection perfectly.
- Keep movements light and agile.
- Use good lateral footwork for positioning.
- Stay focused and organized.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Use faster ball deliveries from servers.
2. Reduce the distance between the poles.
3. Increase the frequency of ball deliveries.
Make it easier:
1. Use a lighter ball.
2. Increase the distance between poles.
3. Allow the goalkeeper to catch the ball without using the poles initially.
