Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 red outfield player starts with a ball inside the area, spaced freely to execute moves
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard practice area, 1 ball for the player
Instructions
- Begin with players practicing the feint with a stationary ball.
- Progress to increasing the speed of touch while maintaining control.
- Introduce various ball manipulation moves for complexity.
- Transition to game-related activities focusing on decision-making.
- Encourage practice with the non-dominant foot, repeating earlier stages.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close control over the ball.
- Keep head up, glancing down briefly when needed.
- Focus on the proper technique and speed of the move.
- Bend knees slightly and stay light on feet.
- Develop rhythm in executing moves.
- Incrementally increase speed and fluency.
- Cultivate comfort and mastery over various feints and techniques.
- Monitor player progress through the five stages.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Introduce defenders to increase decision complexity.
2. Require combination of feints without repetition.
3. Decrease space, necessitating tighter control.
Make it easier:
1. Allow more space for execution.
2. Reduce speed requirements, focusing on technique.
3. Encourage using dominant foot before switching to the non-dominant.
