Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones for the 30x20-yard grid
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard grid marked with cones
  2. Team Red: 4 red outfield players start inside the grid, beginning with possession of the ball
  3. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start inside the grid, without initial possession
  4. Neutral: 4 black neutral players positioned around the grid's perimeter, two as target players on opposite end lines and two as wide options on opposite side lines
  5. Equipment: cones marking the 30x20-yard grid, balls for inside and outside players
Instructions
  1. Inside players pass to a designated outside player.
  2. Outside players catch and throw the ball by hand back inside.
  3. Inside players score by controlling and passing to a different teammate.
  4. Encourage dynamic movement and switching positions.
  5. Rotate roles among all players after set intervals.
Coaching Points
  • Cushion or wedge for a soft first touch.
  • Decide early on which surface to control the ball.
  • Keep your head up to scan the field.
  • Maintain fluid ball movement.
  • Align body with incoming passes.
  • Move the ball off straight lines for better angles.
  • Face forward when receiving if possible.
  • Angle movements for better receipt and control.
  • Relax on impact for smoother control.
  • Focus on precise pass execution.
  • Emphasize teamwork and communication.
  • Practice selecting the right contact surface.
  • Refine technical skills when receiving and passing.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the grid size to increase pressure.
2. Limit touches to two or less before passing.
3. Use weaker foot for receiving and passing.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the grid size to provide more space.
2. Allow unlimited touches for better control.
3. Add more outside players to create additional passing options.
