Equipment
- 2 Goals
- Several Balls
- Cones/Markers for area boundaries and end zones
Setup
- Area: 40x25 yard area marked with cones, with a 2-yard end zone at each end
- Goals: One goal centred on each end line
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts in the end zone at one end of the area with a ball
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts in the end zone at the opposite end of the area with a ball
- Neutral: 1 black defending player starts in the central area between the two end zones
- Equipment: Cones marking the 40x25 yard area boundary and the 2-yard end zone lines at each end, several balls for attackers to use
Instructions
- Attackers (green and red) begin in their respective end zones, each with a ball.
- Attackers choose one or two players at a time to dribble across the area.
- If attackers reach the opposite end line, they can turn and shoot at either goal.
- Award one point for each goal scored.
- Defenders work together to intercept the ball and prevent goals.
- If defenders intercept and score, they earn two points.
- Rotate teams after each team has used four balls.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize effective communication among players
- Maintain concentration and awareness of surroundings
- Use low and side-on body positioning
- Aim to make play predictable for defenders
- Stay patient and wait for the right time to challenge
- Keep defensive shape compact and organized
- Apply pressure and cover, ensuring balance in defense
- Observe body positioning regularly
- Encourage players to make quick defensive decisions
- Adapt quickly to close gaps when necessary
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Limit the time attackers have to reach the other side and shoot.
3. Increase the number of defenders.
Make it easier:
1. Expand the size of the playing area to provide more space.
2. Allow more attackers to dribble at once.
3. Decrease the number of defenders.
