- Cones
- Goal
- Spare balls
Setup
- Area: 20x30 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One goal positioned 20 yards from the area, facing the area
- Team Blue: 5 blue outfield players start spaced inside the area as the attacking team
- Team Red: 2 red outfield players start inside the area as defenders
- Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the goal 20 yards from the area
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x30 yard area, spare balls placed strategically around the perimeter for quick restarts
Instructions
- Attacking team must complete 5 successful passes.
- After the passes, an attacker dribbles over the line closest to the goal.
- Within 5 seconds, attackers must take a shot on goal.
- If defenders win possession, they switch roles with the attacker who lost the ball.
Coaching Points
- Communicate effectively throughout play.
- Utilize a good first touch and keep your head up.
- Maintain ball movement, exploit available space.
- Focus on accurate and timely passes, including pass disguise.
- Timing of attacking runs is critical.
- Create forward passing opportunities quickly.
- Encourage realistic defensive pressure.
- Goalkeeper positioning is crucial before shots.
- Combine and support play from different angles to breach defenses.
- Keep possession while maneuvering between defenders.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the area size to make possession more challenging.
2. Increase the number of defenders to three.
3. Decrease the time to score to 3 seconds.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size to provide more space.
2. Allow attackers to complete fewer passes before exiting the area.
3. Remove one defender to reduce defensive pressure.
