Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls
  • Cones for boundary and gates
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players (attackers), each with a ball, start spaced evenly across the area
  3. Team Red: 4 red outfield players (defenders) start positioned at the gates, one defender guarding each gate
  4. Equipment: cones marking the 30x20 yard boundary, plus additional cones forming multiple 2-yard-wide gates spaced throughout the interior of the area
Instructions
  1. Attackers attempt to dribble through as many gates as possible within a set time.
  2. Defenders guard the gates and try to prevent attackers from passing through.
  3. Switch roles after the designated time period.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close ball control.
  • Eyes up for better decision-making.
  • Use disguise and quick changes of direction.
  • Utilize a good first touch to keep the ball controlled.
  • Move the ball into open spaces.
  • Be aware of the space and defenders.
  • Use a positive attitude to enhance confidence.
  • Accelerate swiftly when opportunities arise.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the number of defenders.
2. Reduce the size of gates.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the number of defenders.
2. Widen the gates.
3. Allow attackers to pass only through the gates without opposition.
