Equipment
- Cones (to mark 20x20 yard area)
- Balls (one per player)
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 player starts with a ball inside the area, with space to move freely
- Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area, 1 ball per player
Instructions
- Players dribble using the inside and outside of their dominant foot alternately.
- Once confident, switch to the less dominant foot.
- Progress to using both feet with a pattern: inside, outside, outside, inside.
- Practice the skill first with a stationary ball, then at increasing speeds.
- Introduce different ball manipulation moves for diversity.
- Conclude with game-like scenarios, emphasizing decision-making.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close control of the ball.
- Use disguise effectively.
- Keep your head up while dribbling.
- Exhibit a positive attitude.
- Focus on the technique and speed of the move.
- Keep knees slightly bent and light on feet.
- Accelerate when appropriate.
- Gradually increase the fluency and speed of each move.
- Master each feint or move individually.
- Enhance spatial awareness and coordination.
- Utilize the skill effectively in 1v1 situations.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce practice area size to 15x15 yards.
2. Introduce a defender to increase difficulty.
3. Encourage players to perform the sequence under time constraints.
Make it easier:
1. Increase practice area size to 25x25 yards.
2. Allow players to use their dominant foot only initially.
3. Reduce speed expectations while focusing on ball control.
