Equipment
- Cones for marking area
- Balls for each starting point
Setup
- Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 4 red outfield players spaced evenly around the perimeter, one at each corner cone
- Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 30x20 yard area, 1 ball at each corner starting position
Instructions
- First player passes to the next and follows the pass at increased speed.
- Execute a 1-2 wall pass around the cone.
- Continue the sequence with the second player passing to the next.
- Players follow their pass back to the starting point.
- Reverse the direction to counter-clockwise after a set time.
Coaching Points
- Ensure regular hydration during warm-up.
- Encourage clear communication between players.
- Focus on increasing intensity gradually.
- Monitor first touch quality and movement dynamics.
- Stress the importance of precise passing and receiving.
- Make warm-ups engaging and relevant to upcoming drills.
- Maintain high energy to progressively raise heart rates.
- Develop good habits for effective performance preparation.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the size of the practice area to increase passing speed and control.
2. Require one-touch play during wall passes.
3. Introduce a defender to create pressure during passes.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the practice area for more space.
2. Allow players two touches when receiving and passing.
3. Simplify by using only one direction (clockwise).
