Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones, with a 10-yard end line marked within it
  2. Team Blue: 1 blue attacker starts at the center of the side opposite the feeder
  3. Team Red: 1 red defender starts alongside the feeder, at the center of one side of the area
  4. Coach: 1 grey feeder positioned at the center of one side of the area with the ball, next to the defender
  5. Equipment: cones marking the 20x20 yard playing area and cones marking the 10-yard end line within it
Instructions
  1. The feeder passes the ball to the attacker.
  2. As the ball is en route, the defender moves to challenge the attacker.
  3. The attacker attempts to dribble past the defender and cross the end line.
  4. The defender aims to challenge for the ball and prevent the attacker from reaching the end line.
  5. Rotate roles after each attempt to ensure all players practice each position.
Coaching Points
  • Approach the ball quickly and balanced.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Stay concentrated and alert to changes.
  • Keep light on the feet for quick reactions.
  • Aim to make the play predictable for the defender.
  • Win the ball when possible using proper techniques.
  • Maintain a low, side-on body position.
  • Be patient; do not commit too early.
  • Assess the attacker's intention consistently.
  • Use an angled approach to influence their direction.
  • Jockey correctly by staggering feet front and back for stability.
  • Observe correct body technique and positioning.
  • Be ready to pause play to correct and demonstrate technique.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the playing area's size to increase difficulty.
2. Add a countdown for the attacker to reach the end line.
3. Limit the defender's initial distance to challenge faster.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to allow more space for the defender.
2. Allow the defender to start slightly closer to the attacker.
3. Permit the attacker fewer touches before reaching the end line.
