Equipment
- Cones for marking the area
- Small portable goals
- Full-size goal
- Multiple soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 30x45 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: One full-size goal at one end with one small goal positioned on each side of it
- Team Red: 2 red outfield defenders start in the center of the area
- Team Blue: 2 blue outfield attackers start on the sideline ready to receive a fed ball
- Coach: 1 grey feeder positioned on the sideline feeding balls into play
- Equipment: Cones marking the 30x45 yard area, two small portable goals placed on each side of the full-size goal, multiple soccer balls positioned on the sidelines
Instructions
- Two attacking players must receive the ball from the sideline feeder.
- They must dribble past two defenders to score in one of the small goals.
- If the attackers score, they remain on the field for another round.
- If they fail to score, they switch with another pair.
- Ensure prompt replacement of pairs to maintain flow.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close control of the ball while dribbling.
- Keep your head up to make informed decisions.
- Make quick, decisive movements to beat defenders.
- Utilize communication to coordinate with your partner.
- Use varying speeds and acceleration to exploit space.
- Practice using feints and skill moves to deceive opponents.
- Focus on producing a quality end product when shooting or passing.
- Encourage a positive and confident approach to attacking.
- Allow players to express creativity and experiment with techniques.
- Prioritize teamwork to effectively navigate 2v2 scenarios.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the number of defenders to three.
2. Limit the time attackers have to score a goal.
3. Reduce the size of the small goals.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the number of defenders to one.
2. Allow more time for attackers to score.
3. Use larger small goals to make scoring easier.
