Equipment
- Cones
- Two small goals
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 60x30 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: Two small goals placed side by side on one end line
- Team Red: 2 red outfield players start lined up opposite the goals at the far end of the area, with 1 of them positioned between the two goals as the active defender
- Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players start lined up opposite the goals at the far end of the area, with 1 of them starting with the ball to begin the attack
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners and perimeter of the 60x30 yard area, two small goals positioned side by side on one end line
Instructions
- Blue 1 starts with the ball and dribbles towards the goals attempting to score.
- Red 1 defends the goals against Blue 1's attack.
- If Blue 1 scores, misses or loses possession, they become the new defender as Red 2 begins their attack.
- Continue the pattern with each player attacking then switching to defense after their turn.
Coaching Points
- Use laces for effective ball movement.
- Maintain quality technique with minimal touches.
- Communicate clearly with teammates.
- Accelerate to exploit available space.
- Ensure good first touch to control direction.
- Keep head up to increase awareness.
- Monitor opportunities and respond quickly.
- Receive with the furthest foot to gain space.
- Make quick decisions to capitalize on space.
- Develop confidence in exploiting space.
- Emphasize good techniques and skills.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Limit the time allowed to score.
3. Restrict the number of touches on the ball.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow unlimited touches.
3. Add a defender to create a 2v1 advantage for the attacking team.
