Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 20x20-yard practice area
  • Sufficient balls for each player
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area
  2. Group: 1 red outfield player standing stationary with a ball positioned between their feet
  3. Equipment: 1 ball per player within the 20x20 yard area
Instructions
  1. Players perform quick taps on the ball from one foot to the other.
  2. After each tap sequence, brush the starting foot over the top of the ball to the opposite foot.
  3. Repeat the tap, tap, brush sequence to develop rhythm.
  4. Initially practice with a stationary ball and gradually increase touch speed.
  5. Integrate additional ball manipulation moves as players progress.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control of the ball
  • Use disguise when switching feet
  • Keep your head up to scan the field
  • Focus on precise technique and speed
  • Slightly bend knees to stay balanced
  • Stay light on your feet
  • Establish and maintain a consistent rhythm
  • Continuously improve touch and ball feel
  • Develop fluency through increased speed
  • Master specific ball manipulation techniques
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the speed of touches per minute.
2. Introduce additional moves like step-overs or pull-backs on command.
3. Players switch between more complex moves without stopping.
Make it easier:
1. Allow players to steady the ball before changing feet.
2. Slow down the pace to ensure correct technique.
3. Focus on mastering a single move before adding complexity.
