Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls
  • Cones or markers
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones, adjustable based on player numbers.
  2. Group: 10 black players numbered 1-10, distributed randomly inside the area, with Player 1 starting with the ball.
  3. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 30x30 yard area; extra soccer balls positioned around the periphery of the grid.
Instructions
  1. Players move within the grid, staying alert and communicating.
  2. Player 1 passes to Player 2, who adjusts to receive the pass.
  3. Player 2 passes to Player 3, continuing numerically.
  4. The last player passes back to Player 1.
  5. Increase repetitions by using a second ball with another group if numbers permit.
  6. Encourage continuous movement and various types of runs.
Coaching Points
  • Foster constant communication between players.
  • Ensure proper angles and distances for support.
  • Focus on the first touch; keep the head up for awareness.
  • Maintain ball movement into open space effectively.
  • Encourage dynamic movement and staying light-footed.
  • Precision in passing: accuracy, timing, and disguise.
  • Choose the appropriate passing technique.
  • Support the ball quickly and efficiently.
  • Aim for ground passes and assess passing distances.
  • Observe and provide feedback on movements and options.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the grid size to make space tighter.
2. Add a third ball to increase pressure and speed of play.
3. Limit touches to two per player to improve passing speed.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the grid size for more space.
2. Use a single ball to simplify the drill.
3. Allow unlimited touches to focus on control and passing technique.
