Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones to mark the playing area
  • A soccer ball for each player
  • One larger or differently colored central ball
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard grid marked with cones
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts on one side of the grid, each with a ball at their feet
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts on the opposite side of the grid, each with a ball at their feet
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the 20x20 yard grid, one soccer ball per player positioned at each player's feet, one larger or distinctively coloured ball placed in the centre of the grid
Instructions
  1. Players alternate turns attempting to kick their ball to hit the central ball.
  2. The goal is to move the central ball towards the opposite team's side.
  3. The game ends when one team successfully knocks the central ball across the opposing team's boundary line.
  4. Encourage spontaneous play and let the game flow naturally.
Coaching Points
  • Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere.
  • Develop spatial awareness within players.
  • Focus on enjoyment to ensure session relevance and engagement.
  • Promote basic kicking technique and participation.
  • Use the game to teach, minimizing explicit coaching.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the playing area size.
2. Use weaker foot only.
3. Reduce the size of the central ball.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the playing area size.
2. Move the central ball closer to one team to start.
3. Allow players to take two consecutive turns.
