Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls (one per player)
  • Cones for grid and turn-back points
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard grid marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player starts inside the grid dribbling a ball freely
  3. Equipment: 4+ cones marking the corners of the 20x20 grid, additional cones placed outside the grid perimeter as turn-back points, 1 soccer ball per player
Instructions
  1. Players dribble around the grid maintaining control.
  2. On the coach's signal, players stop the ball with the sole of their foot.
  3. Players sprint to any outside cone and return to their ball.
  4. Award points based on speed and control upon return.

  • Encourage players consistently
  • Maintain close ball control
  • Increase spatial awareness within the grid
  • Use different foot parts for ball control
  • Balance between speed and accuracy
  • Ensure inclusive participation
  • Create a fun and engaging environment
  • Facilitate rather than direct learning
  • Adjust for age-appropriate play
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce grid size to increase difficulty.
2. Introduce more cones as obstacles.
3. Time the sprints and set targets.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the grid size to give players more space.
2. Allow players to walk instead of sprint.
3. Remove outside cones and just focus on ball control.
