Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • - Cones for marking the area
  • - Two 3-yard mini goals
  • - Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 30x25 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Two 3-yard mini goals positioned side by side on one end line of the area
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players start at the end of the area opposite the mini goals, in possession of the ball
  4. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start at the opposite end of the area, facing the mini goals
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the 30x25 yard area, two 3-yard mini goals on one end line, soccer balls
Instructions
  1. Defenders start by passing the ball to one of the attackers.
  2. Attackers aim to score by getting through and finishing into one of the mini goals.
  3. Defenders work together to block paths and regain possession.
  4. If defenders force the ball out of play, they earn a point.
  5. Rotate defenders regularly to ensure equal participation.
Coaching Points
  • Communication and teamwork among defenders
  • Stay compact to cover spaces effectively
  • Nearest defender closes down the ball quickly
  • Use cover and support to block pathways
  • Pressure the ball carrier while maintaining balance
  • Focus on positioning to intercept passes
  • Work on making attacking play predictable
  • Patience to not overcommit
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Add an additional attacker to create a 4v2 scenario.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area for more space.
2. Allow defenders to start with a 1-goal lead.
3. Add an extra defender to create a 3v3 situation.
