Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Mini goal
  • Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 40x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One mini goal centred on one end line
  3. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start grouped at the end of the area opposite the goal, ready to receive the initial pass
  4. Team Red: 2 red outfield players start at the end of the area opposite the goal, in possession of the ball ready to pass to the attackers
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the 40x30 yard area, one mini goal on the end line, balls starting with the red defenders
Instructions
  1. The defenders start by passing the ball to the attackers to initiate the 3v2 situation.
  2. Attackers must aim to score quickly before defenders can organize.
  3. The drill concludes when a goal is scored, the ball exits the play area, or defenders regain possession.
  4. Rotate in new groups of attackers and defenders after each attempt.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close ball control.
  • Make quick decisions on when to dribble, pass, or shoot.
  • Offer support to teammates and maintain good spacing.
  • Keep the ball moving away from defenders.
  • Use acceleration and quick changes of direction.
  • Encourage the use of both feet when dribbling.
  • Promote confidence and technical skill in attacking play.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase defensive pressure.
2. Increase the number of defenders to create a 3v3 scenario.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area to provide more space for attackers.
2. Allow unlimited touches for attackers to build confidence.
