Setup
- Area: 15x20 yard area marked with cones
- Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players (attackers) start at the end of the area with one ball on a cone
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player (defender) starts at the opposite end of the area with two balls on cones
- Equipment: 1 cone with a ball placed at the attackers' end, 2 cones each with a ball placed at the defender's end
Instructions
- The two attackers collaborate to pass and knock the ball off the cone at the defender's end.
- The defender aims to intercept and attacks the two balls on cones.
- Swap roles regularly.
- Adjust the speed and intensity to suit players' fitness levels.
Coaching Points
- Foster teamwork between attackers to bypass the defender.
- Emphasize accuracy and speed in passing.
- Monitor players' workload and recovery needs.
- Tailor drill intensity to overload aerobic capacity.
- Implement the Four Corner Model: Technical, Tactical, Physical, and Psychological.
- Encourage recovery between intense activities to sustain performance.
- Focus on maintaining speed and precision under fatigue.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the playing area size to 20x30 yards.
2. Reduce recovery time between rounds.
3. Add a second defender to challenge attackers.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the playing area to 10x15 yards.
2. Allow attackers to use a wall pass off the sidelines.
3. Remove one ball from the defenders' end.
