Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the playing area
  • Goals or gates at each end
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One gate at each end line, centred
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starting spaced across their own half
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starting spaced across their own half
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and perimeter of the 30x20 area, one gate at each end line, soccer balls distributed equally between the two teams
Instructions
  1. Play begins following regular football rules.
  2. If a goal is scored, a player from the conceding team must run around the perimeter before rejoining.
  3. Continue the game as the player completes their forfeit.
  4. Adapt the forfeit to include ball juggles or other exercises as needed.
Coaching Points
  • Ensure proper angles and distances for support.
  • Maintain clear communication among teammates.
  • Emphasize quick decision-making.
  • Focus on an accurate first touch.
  • Attack at speed, looking for gaps.
  • Prioritize the quality, accuracy, and timing of passes.
  • Encourage clever individual and combination plays.
  • Observe and address players' performance as needed.
  • Keep the ball moving without forcing plays.
  • Identify forward-moving opportunities with precision.
  • Support teammates with effective angles and distances.
  • Promote continuous communication during play.
  • Develop awareness of the best passing options.

Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the pitch size to challenge spatial awareness.
2. Limit touches per player to enhance quick decision-making.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the field size for more control over space.
2. Allow a player to only complete half of the running forfeit.
3. Implement unlimited substitutions to manage player fatigue.
