Setup
- Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones, with a central triangle marked by cones with 10-yard sides.
- Goals: Three gates formed by the triangle's sides, acting as shooting targets from all angles, centred within the area.
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts outside one side of the triangle, spaced evenly with teammates around the triangle's perimeter.
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts outside another side of the triangle, spaced evenly with teammates around the triangle's perimeter.
- Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned in the centre of the triangle, defending all three gates.
- Equipment: Cones marking the 30x30 yard area boundary, plus cones marking the central triangle's 10-yard sides.
Instructions
- Teams pass the ball around, aiming to shoot through the triangle's gates.
- The goalkeeper must attempt to save any shots coming through.
- Reset and repeat, focusing on the variety of shot angles.
Coaching Points
- Maintain a balanced set position.
- Use proper save techniques.
- Communicate with defenders.
- Stand tall and assess situations in 1v1.
- Stay positive and expect shots.
- Cover angles by repositioning quickly.
- Be lightning-fast in reactions.
- Evaluate the opponent's approach angle.
- Judge ball flight and speed accurately.
- Seamlessly glide into readiness.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the pace and frequency of shots.
2. Reduce the size of the triangle for narrower gates.
Make it easier:
1. Allow the goalkeeper to use hands outside of the triangle.
2. Widen the triangle to give the goalkeeper more visibility.
3. Slow down the ball movement around the triangle.
