Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones (to create goals)
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 10x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One small cone goal set up within the area for each goalkeeper pair
  3. Group: 2 yellow goalkeepers kneeling upright facing each other on either side of the cone goal, roughly 2 yards apart, sharing one ball between them
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the 10x20 yard area, additional cones forming a small goal between each goalkeeper pair, 1 soccer ball per pair
Instructions
  1. Goalkeepers start on their knees positioned upright, not sitting back on their heels.
  2. The first goalkeeper rolls the ball past their partner to the side, ensuring the ball is reachable.
  3. The receiving goalkeeper rolls back to a kneeling position after collecting the ball.
  4. Continue this rolling exchange while maintaining proper technique.
Coaching Points
  • Use correct hand technique with one hand behind and the other on top while receiving.
  • Prepare hands before handling the ball.
  • Watch and assess the ball's flight.
  • Maintain alignment with the ball's path.
  • Demonstrate correct technique throughout, ensuring no landing on elbows.
  • Stay focused and organized for consistent performance.
  • Practice gradually to build confidence and skill.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the rolling speed of the ball.
2. Widen the cone goal distance for more challenging targeting.
3. Introduce a time limit for successful rolls.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the area size for closer proximity.
2. Allow slight knee elevation for better mobility.
3. Use a lighter ball to reduce difficulty handling.
